A designer at Deviantart, named “iynque” has done some good work with the icons designing and he has put up the Mac OS X icons which resemble the one that are available in the iOS 7. It’s the set named “iOS 7 Icons” and is made available on DeviantArt, and it is made using the Icon Customization app named CandyBar. It is a tool which makes it easier to convert the icons and replace your iconset with a single click.

Depending upon the source of the image the way to change the folder icon may vary. So here we illustrate the method to create a custom icon.

Source 1: Your own picture or a picture from the web | Change folder icon

Steps

Open the picture in Preview > choose Edit > Select All > again select Edit > Copy
Go to the file or folder whose icon you want to replace. Select File > Get Info (alternatively you can right click on the file or folder and select ‘Get Info’)

At the top of the Info window > click of the picture of the icon > choose Edit > Paste

Steps

Select the file or folder that has the source image > choose File > Get Info > Select the icon at the top of the Info Window > Choose Edit > Copy
Select the file or folder whose icon you wish to customize > choose File > Get Info > Select the icon at the top of the Info Window > Choose Edit > Paste
